What is a mud cooling system

Mud Cooling System also named mud cooler, from its name, we can understand it’s a system to cool the drilling mud, yes, that’s right. This system are popular and requested by clients from geothermal drilling. AIPU can design different structures of mud cooling system against the site requirements. Our mud cooler helps to protect drilling tools, transfer equipment, as well as solids control system.

At the present market, there are two types of mud cooling system, that is shell and tube heat exchanger, and plate and frame heat exchanger. Both types we can design and produce, but based on the site feedback. Our used exchanger is plate and frame heat ones nowadays.

As the plate and frame heat exchanger has the following advantages:

●Accessibility. plate and frame HE can easily be opened up for inspection and cleaning

●Short retention time with low liquid inventory hence good for heat sensitive or expensive liquids
